Please read our article on Single Sign-on first.
Also, please ensure that your LMS administrator has configured Moodle with the authentication secret and key. If not, you’ll require these items when creating a link to the zyBook.
Step 1 - Creating a link in Moodle
Once zyBooks is set up as an external tool provider, begin to create a section link by clicking on your course in your Moodle dashboard.
If necessary, in the top right corner, click the gear icon and turn editing on. Editing may already have been turned on in a previous session.
Click the "Add an activity or resource" button in the lower right corner and then choose to add an "External tool". The naming of which tool or resource to be added should have been set up when configuring zyBooks as an external tool provider.
Fill out the "Activity name" field. From the "Preconfigured tool" dropdown menu, select the zyBooks tool configured by you or your LMS administrator. All other fields are optional.
At this point, the link will be created and the browser window should navigate you to your zyBook for selecting a book and link type.
Step 2 - Configure the link on the zyBooks website
After creating a link in Moodle, you must configure that link on the zyBooks website to point to a specific section. While logged into Moodle using an email address that is assigned as an instructor on one or more zyBooks, follow a newly created LMS link to zyBooks to initiate the configuration process.
Select a zyBook
You should be taken to the following page where you will see all of your active zyBooks on which you are a verified instructor. Select the zyBook you wish to create a link to.
After selecting a zyBook, a new screen will be shown that provides options to link directly to a section. Choose "Link to section".
Linking to a section
Once a section has been selected, the link will be accessible by students from Moodle.
Return to LMS
Once created and linked, students will be able to see the assignment in their zyBook and submit to Moodle for reporting purposes.
